FRENCH FRIES


What is French Fries? 

French fries are the long ‘Allumentte ‘ cut pieces of potatoes which is deep fried in oil at the temperature  of ‘325 degree F’ . We can pronounce it fries or finger chips as well. It is a French cuisine which is originate from French. This cuisine is loved all over the world and mainly eats as a snacks.




French fries are quick to prepare and are a low food cost. They’re popular all year round, anytime of day or night. Not all potatoes produce good French fries. For good fries potatoes need a high solid content to ensure a distinct, mealy texture and flavour. Nowadays French fries are available in frozen section in prepacked form.

  How to make French Fries ?

1st Step :- 

Take 3 large potatoes (300 gm) . Rinse well in water and than pelled the potatoes.

2nd Step :-

Cut the potatoes into the size of ‘5mm x 5mm x 4cm’ having 1cm thickness. You can use French fry cutter if u have it .




3rd Step :-

Now keep the potatoes into the bowl and rinse it with water couple of times to remove starch . Take a bowl and keep 3 cups of water and keep the potato sticks in it .Keep the bowl in the refregerator for about 30 to 50 minutes.

4th Step :-

After 30 to 50 minutes drain the water from the bowl and rinse the potatoes with water once again and place them on a clean kitchen cotton napkin. The potatoes have to be completely dry before frying them.

5th Step :-

After it completely dries, add 1 tbsp cornstarch than toss the potato sticks well.

6th Step :-

Heat oil in wok or pan. Keep the flame to medium heat. For a heavy pan or wok, keep medium flame and for a less heavy pan, use a medium low flame. The oil should have a medium low heat or having a temperature of 130 to 135 degree celcius.

7th Step :-

Now add the potatoes in the oil . Fry the potatoes in two batches and do not over crowed the owk / pan with potatoes. Now, fry them string time to time for uniform cooking.

8th Step :-

Fry until it gets light golden than place the half fried potatoes in the kitchen towel and let the half fried potatoes cool down at room temperature. Now increase the flame to a medium high or high flame . The oil should be hot having a temperature of 180 to 190 degree celcius.

9th Step :-

Add the half fried potatoes into the hot oil and fry the potatoes till crisp and golden. Remove the french fries with slotted spoon and place it on the pepper towel to remove extra oil from the potatoes.

SERVING :-

While still hot, take the french fries in a bowl and sprinkle with some salt, redchilly flakes, paprika or dried herbs than toss the bowl gently to mix all the spices.

Serve hot French Fries with tomato ketchup and Mayonaise to make it more delicious.
