What is Hot and Sour Soup?

It is a Chinese Soup originated from China. It is a Asian culinary tradition. In all cases, the soup contain ingredients to make it both spicy and sour. Hot and Sour Chicken soup fairly can be nutritious appetizer , as it contain nutritions. This soup is claimed by regional cuisines of Beijing China and Schezwan as a regional dish. Sometimes the soup would also have carrots and pieces pork. It is typically made of spicy red pepper or white pepper and sour by vinegar.

I am not a huge fan ho spices, I preferred less spices when it comes to 2nd Course meal . Chinese cuisine is one of the spiciest cuisine in the world. 6 Cups of Chicken stock (4 cups of water and 4 chicken bouillon cubes)

1/2 tablespoon of Soy sauce.

1/3 cup cooked shredded Chicken or Pork.

3/4 cup of diced mushroom.

3/4 tablespoon Garlic Chilly Sauce.

1/3 tablespoon fresh ground Black pepper.

1/3 cup white Vinegar.

1/2 cup canned Bamboo Shoots, julienne.

1/2 oz block of Tofu. Cut into 1/4 inch dice.

3 tablespoon cornstarch and 2 tablespoon cold water.

1 beaten Egg.

3 green Onion stalks, diced.

3/4 teaspoon toasted Sesame oil.

Cooking Procedure of Hot and Sour Soup

1st Step :

 Bring chicken broth to a simmer in a 2 quart sauce pan.

2nd Step :

Add soy sauce, shredded meat, mushrooms and garlic chilly sauce.

3rd Step :

 Simmer for 5 minutes.

4th Step :

Add black pepper, white vinegar, bamboo shoots and tofu.

5th Step :

Simmer for five minutes.

6th Step :

Combine 3 tablespoons fo cornstarch with 2 tablespoon of cold water in a cup. Stir until mixture is smooth. Now, add cornstarch mixture to soup and stir well, Simmer for five minutes until soup is thick.

7th Step :

Beat egg in a cup until yolk and white are combined. Pour beaten egg slowly, in a fine stream into a soup. Stir soup several times and wait for 30 second.

8th Step :

Add green onions and sesame oil to soup, stir well and remove from heat.

Final Step :

Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
